Matthew's practice focuses on commercial transactions (including M&A, joint ventures, and debt and equity issuances), fund formation, and investor-side representation in the private equity and venture capital space. 

Matthew has particular experience representing emerging and mid-sized companies in the negotiation of debt and equity transactions key to their growth strategies.  With clients in the U.S., the U.K., India, and China, Matthew also has broad familiarity with structuring and effecting cross-border deals. 

Matthew advises on Securities Act, Advisers Act, and Investment Company Act compliance and other issues of interest to alternative investment funds and advisors.  Matthew was previously an associate in the corporate transactional group of DLA Piper for seven years. 

Matthew holds a B.A. and J.D. from the University of Washington and Lee.
